The average blue crab contains about 2 ounces (57g) of meat, depending on its size. On average, meat yield is 14% of whole crab weight.
I was amazed at how nutritious crab meat is. It’s almost pure protein. Just one crab has significant amounts of minerals. Most surprising is that it contains 103% of the RDA for vitamin B-12. That sounds incredibly high. Maybe that explains why people crave crabs.
